For the occasion, TechpowerUp was able to witness a small demonstration of the performance of the future twelve-core processor in-game. The test was conducted on Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, and the game ran at 1080p with graphics details set to high. Coupled with an RX 7900 XTX, the configuration achieved an interesting result, with average FPS at 229, a minimum at 130 and peaks at 283 fps.

By way of comparison, pointed out by @9550pro on Twitter, Tom’s Hardware obtained 171 FPS on average with the same card paired with a Core i9 13900K. However, graphic details were set with the presets in medium while the FSR3 was in quality mode.

Soon, users began to find these results strange and started to share their findings. The question mark here is the 7900 XTX’s score, which is a little too good for the RTX 4090… Ultimately, the question behind this is whether or not AMD enabled Frame Generation during its demonstration.
